CATFISH
Catfish is a collaborative project of Cleo Wachter and myself. Combining the distinctly analog effect of upright projector (layered with various oils, feathers and other found materials) with generative process and improvisation in Ableton, Catfish tells stories about nature, physical processes and the environment.
We performed our initial piece - The Whale & Climate Change - at the Berlin event MicroMoon. I used various samples and effects to warp the sound, while also sustaining ambient textures in the background. Me and Cleo played together using a rough schema for the various scenes that still allowed us some looseness and improvisation.
Following this we created the piece Precipitation. Taking on a darker tone, this piece tracks the fantastical journey of a single water particle through the water cycle. My sound here delves further into noise - the eerie and brutal sounds touching on our increasingly dissonant relation with nature and climate.
